Acer palmatum Diss. 'Ornatum'
The leaves have a beautiful red colour. It is bronze-red, different from the other red cultivars. This brilliant tone stands out well in the landscape. In the late summer, the colour turns bronze-green and finally transforming to a stunning crimson-red in the autumn. The best plant for a true, year-round, fiery display. Acer palmatum 'Ornatum' can reach 3 m x 3 m but grows really slowly making a perfect plant for a small garden or container.
Garden Care:
Should be grown in moist but well-drained soil. Leaf colour is best in partial shade but the full sun can be tolerated.
Like all Maples, this one is very easy to maintain. It doesn't require any pruning routine. Remove any dead or damaged branches. The best time to prune is the late autumn or winter when the plant is fully dormant.
In spring you may add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser or organic matter around the base of the plant.
