Acer palmatum 'Beni hagoromo' is also known as Acer palmatum 'Tamuke yama'
The spring foliage is deep crimson-red and changes to very dark purple-red. This lovely colour holds very well throughout the summer. Autumn colour is bright and scarlet. 'Beni hagoromo' has an upright habit.
This Japanese maple will grow up to around 2-3m in height and 1m in width. A perfect variety for narrow space in the border.
Should be grown in moist but well-drained soil. Leaf colour is best in partial shade but the full sun can be tolerated.
Like all Maples, this one is very easy to maintain. It doesn't require any pruning routine. Remove any dead or damaged branches. The best time to prune is the late autumn or winter when the plant is fully dormant.
In spring you may add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser or organic matter around the base of the plant.
