The young leaves are dark purple. They hold the colour well into the summer. Later in the summer they become bronze-green to then turn bright scarlet-red in the autumn.Garden Care:Should be grown in moist but well-drained soil. Leaf colour is best in partial shade but the full sun can be tolerated.Like all Maples, this one is very easy to maintain. It doesn't require any pruning routine. Remove any dead or damaged branches. The best time to prune is the late autumn or winter when the plant is fully dormant. In spring you may add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser or organic matter around the base of the plant.
