Acer palmatum Diss. 'Inabe shidare'

Acer palmatum Diss. 'Inabe shidare'

An outstanding cultivar that differs from other dissectums because of its deeper colour. Bears large seven lobed leaves. Each lobe ends in a fine tip. The leaves appear sturdier than those of other dissectums. The leaves deepen to purple-red as they develop in spring. It's colour is retained all season.

Inaba Shidare has an upright growing form, although it does tend to cascade. It is vigorous and sturdy and a popular landscaping choice. Attractive feathery leaves make this tree a stunning focal point.

A good choice for a small garden or a patio tree. Can reach 3m x 3m in 20 years.

Garden Care:

Should be grown in moist but well-drained soil. Leaf colour is best in partial shade.

Like all Maples, this one is very easy to maintain. It doesn't require any pruning routine. Remove any dead or damaged branches. The best time to prune is the late autumn or winter when the plant is fully dormant.

In spring you may add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser or organic matter around the base of the plant.

Prefers a sheltered position, avoiding the full sun.
