A lovely addition to any garden with its distinctive yellow green colour. The leaves are quite large and the tone darkens as summer progresses. The autumn colour is bright yellow, ocassionally tinged with orange. Each leaf bears 5-7 lobes, divided entirely at the leaf base. Every leaf is toothed along the margins.
Flavescens is a vigorous grower and has the pendulous, dome shaped habit of the dissectum group. It is desirable to train young plants into an upright stem to encourage the cascading form. It can reach 2.5m in height.
Does best in full sun or light shade. Low maintenance. Slow grower. Good for pots.
A vibrant addition to any garden with its feathery dome shaped appearance.
As with most maples, very little pruning is required. If necessary, this should be carried out in the dormant season, then only by removing dead, diseased or crossing branches.
