The outstanding feature of this cultivar is the colour in the variegated leaves. The name translates to 'Red and Changeful' which is appropriate. Spectacular white margined, bluish green leaves are overlaid with pink-orange hues in spring, turning green with white margins in summer. Autumn sees a change to orange and gold.
As with most maple, it needs protecting from cold winds. Beni Shichihenge is a hardy cultivar and tolerates full sun to partial shade. Prefers moist, well drained, fertile soil.
You can prune from November to March, but the natural shape is very attractive. the only pruning required is to remove crossing, dead or diseased branches. Provides an architectural feature.
