The outstanding feature of this cultivar is the colour in the variegated leaves. The name translates to 'Red and Changeful' which is appropriate. Spectacular white margined, bluish-green leaves are overlaid with pink-orange hues in spring, turning green with white margins in summer. Autumn sees a change to orange and gold.
A small variety, reaching only 2m x 2m.
Provides an architectural feature.
Should be grown in moist but well-drained soil. Leaf colour is best in partial shade but the full sun can be tolerated.
Like all Maples, this one is very easy to maintain. It doesn't require any pruning routine. Remove any dead or damaged branches. The best time to prune is the late autumn or winter when the plant is fully dormant.
In spring you may add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser or organic matter around the base of the plant.
