Acer palmatum 'Atrolineare' is slow-growing, upright Japanese Maple with fine, spidery, purple-red foliage in summer. The leaves are more vibrant in the spring and turn more bronze, red and orange in the autumn. Despite its delicate appearance, it is a hardy plant. It forms a softly rounded canopy, bearing very deeply cut leaves. Makes a lovely specimen plant. Suitable for container planting due to its small size.
This Maple grows best in moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. Can tolerate some sun. It reaches 3 m high after 10 years. Protect from cold winds.
As with most maples, very little maintenance is required. If needed, only prune in the dormant season and only remove dead, diseased or crossing branches.
This beauty grows in a 14-litre pot.

Should be grown in moist but well-drained soil. Leaf colour is best in partial shade but the full sun can be tolerated.
Like all Maples, this one is very easy to maintain. It doesn't require any pruning routine. Remove any dead or damaged branches. The best time to prune is the late autumn or winter when the plant is fully dormant.
In spring you may add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser or organic matter around the base of the plant.
