'Ariadne' is a semi-dwarf, spreading, deciduous Japanese maple with deeply lobed leaves. Marbled pink, cream, and orange with bright green veins in spring turning purple-red to dark green with red veins in summer, and orange with red margins in autumn. This variety also has attractive green young stems.
This stunning variety is perfect for the areas where a mid-size tree is required to add beautiful spring and autumn colour.
Requires shelter spot in partial shade or full sun. Will tolerate most of the soil types, moist but well-drained soil.
Max height and spread 3m x 3m after over 20 years
Should be grown in moist but well-drained soil. Leaf colour is best in partial shade but the full sun can be tolerated.
Like all Maples, this one is very easy to maintain. It doesn't require any pruning routine. Remove any dead or damaged branches. The best time to prune is the late autumn or winter when the plant is fully dormant.
In spring you may add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser or organic matter around the base of the plant.
